| In 2008 Pakistani pop singer Ali Zafar and his fiance (now his wife) were kidnapped from outside a shop here and then released after their families paid a huge ransom. An unidentified man abducted Zafar and his fiance Aisha(now wife) from outside a CD shop on Saturday. Soon after, a call for ransom was made to Zafar’s family, who paid up Rs 2.5 million to free the couple, reports in the local media said. The kidnapper forced them at gunpoint into the singer’s car and made him drive for three on various roads. After getting the ransom money the kidnapper left the couple near Chauburgi and disappeared with their mobile phones and Zafar’s car. |

| Popular comedy show of Dunya News Hasb-e-Haal’s co-host Najia Beig’s mother was injured while resisting robbery attempt here on Wednesday. According to Dunya News, parents of Najia Beig were shopping in Johar Town area when two armed men tried to snatch jewellery and cash from them. The robbers opened firing on Najia’s father on resistance but he luckily escaped. On resistance, one intruder hit Najia’s mother over the head with the butt of a gun and injured her. Both the robbers managed to flee from the scene after snatching jewellery and cash worth thousands of rupees. Najiya’s mother was rushed to hospital for treatment where she got six stitches in the head. |
