A woman Congress worker, who had attended Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi's event in Jorhat on Wednesday and said to have kissed him, has been burnt by her husband. Reports say the victim, Bonti Sootea, the Congress ward member from Bekajangaon panchayat in Jorhat district was set alight by her husband Someswar on Friday following an argument over the Rahul kiss/peck. While the police said earlier there was a misunderstanding between the couple over the incident, a senior Assam Police officer has confirmed that the deceased woman was indeed the one who had kissed Rahul Gandhi on his head. The husband also tried to set himself ablaze and has been hospitalised with 60 per cent burns at Dibrugarh Medical College Hospital, 130km east of Jorhat.
